ABOUT

The Zenú artisans are part of the urban Zenú community living in Cartagena. They are part of several families who have formed a small neighborhood.

The Zenú Artisans

Wilfrido Perez Lucas is our link between FEM , the artisans and us , he puts a lot of effort in communicating his position as a Zenú indegenous. He originates from Cabildo Guayacanes, which we vistited on our trip to Tuchin. He moved to Cartagena to look for economic oppertunities, starting out as a 'Tintero' (vending coffee in the streets of Cartagena).

After he met Ana Maria in a workshop, he started working as a guide in the Museo del Oro.
He is functioning as a leader of the urban Zenú Community, running for elections in October 2015 - but did  unfortunaly not get  elected. His vision is to bring the same rights, as rural indegenous get, to the urban indegenous groups.

Wilfrido will be a key person in our project, since his the link between us as facilitators and the urban indegnous artisans. He describes himself as a very social person, who knows a lot about the Zenú indigenous culture - he lives to fight for their rights and share their ancient history (200 BCE).
