11: Visit to Museo del Oro w. the community

During the visit to Museo del Oro it was important that we all got a common understanding of the Zenú history and how it influences the community member’s lives today. Of special importance was investigating the weaving patterns and symbolism exhibited in the museum in order to expand the variety of patterns that the community knows and put names on the ones that are only known visually. We also put a lot of emphasis on seeing how the weaving pattern was visible in all the ancient objects to show how important the skill of weaving was and still is in order to preserve the Zenú heritage.

We had brought paper and pens for everyone to write or draw what they saw and these tools were used a lot and helped us all discuss patterns and observations with each other. Many had also brought their phones with which they could take photos throughout Wilfrido was the guide of the tour and everyone could ask questions as they occurred. The museum visit also helped on the group dynamics as we were now doing something together in a different setting than what we were used to. It was a positive experience that we shared. Each person kept their drawings for future reference.
