12: Sewing the first prototype

Several challenges occured when sewing the first prototype. We had bought thread that was not strong enough which resulted on several set backs since the thread kept breaking. This showed the importance of buying materials with the community members who knows about local products available so that we in the future can have a better chance at buying the right kind of material. Thus, a community member went with Christine to buy new thread while the rest of us continued with the sewing of the first prototype.

Sewing the first prototype gave a new idea about how to make the top of the lampshade. Instead of sewing it as a spiral it could be sewn 'flat' and then cut into the right round shape. Thus it was a very productive day where new ideas came from the prototyping process and proper materials were found for future production.
